Shiloh Torres, MA, is a compassionate and engaging therapist who believes that effective therapy begins with genuine human connection. Her approach reflects the philosophy of Axis Counseling and Psychological Services: therapy should be individualized, collaborative, respectful, and centered on the person — not simply the symptoms that bring someone into treatment.
Grounded in existential-humanistic psychology, Shiloh creates a therapeutic environment where clients can feel comfortable being themselves, speaking openly about their experiences, and exploring difficult emotions without fear of judgment. She believes that people are best understood within the context of their relationships, experiences, values, identities, and the circumstances shaping their lives.
Shiloh works with individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns, with particular interests in trauma, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and borderline personality disorder (BPD). She has a particular interest in helping individuals who experience intense emotions, difficulties with emotional regulation, challenges within relationships, fears of rejection or abandonment, and struggles with identity and self-worth. Shiloh approaches these experiences with compassion and curiosity, recognizing the person beyond the diagnosis and the life experiences that may have contributed to their struggles.
She recognizes that emotional difficulties rarely exist in isolation and may affect relationships, work, confidence, identity, decision-making, and a person’s overall sense of connection to the world around them.
Consistent with the Axis approach to psychotherapy, Shiloh does not believe in one-size-fits-all treatment. She works collaboratively with each client to understand what they are experiencing, identify what matters most to them, and develop a therapeutic process that reflects their individual needs, strengths, values, and goals. Therapy with Shiloh is something created with the client rather than prescribed to them.
Her existential-humanistic perspective also allows therapy to move beyond symptom reduction when appropriate. Shiloh helps clients explore the deeper experiences that can accompany anxiety, depression, trauma, BPD, and life transitions — including questions of identity, relationships, meaning, choice, uncertainty, loss, belonging, and personal growth. Through this process, clients can develop greater insight, emotional resilience, self-acceptance, and confidence in navigating their lives.
Shiloh brings warmth, authenticity, curiosity, and respect to the therapeutic relationship. She welcomes clients from diverse backgrounds and with a broad range of concerns and is committed to meeting each person where they are. Her goal is to provide a space where clients feel genuinely heard and understood while also feeling supported in making meaningful and lasting changes in their lives.
At Axis Counseling and Psychological Services, we believe therapy works best when people are treated as individuals rather than diagnoses. Shiloh embodies that philosophy by providing thoughtful, person-centered care built around each client’s unique story, strengths, challenges, and possibilities.
Shiloh is currently accepting new clients at Axis Counseling and Psychological Services.
